~4.5/5[More of my reviews are available on my blog, Geeky Reading, to which there's a link on my profile.]The first part of this volume was very thoughtful. There are a couple conversations between the characters about humans, good versus bad. It brought up some good points (particularly what Armin says), and it was really well done. And then…And then something huge is revealed, which I had no idea about, and I was so surprised and excited and it was intense. And then! And then something even bigger is revealed, and it’s horrifying and mind-blowing and makes me uneasy just thinking about it. It’s something that, once you know, you can never not know. It’s horrible and terrifying, and I still don’t know how to handle it.When it’s first shown, I didn’t fully understand it, and then they talked about it later. And I realized what it meant. And I’m sure I looked crazy to all the people around me (I was reading this at school, with people around), because I kept looking up and muttering “holy s***” to myself. I just couldn’t believe it. I can’t believe it. I’m horrified. And I’m utterly terrified on their behalf. And the fact that this series can blow my mind in such a way, catch me so off-guard and horrify me in such a way that my stomach is actually uneasy, makes this such an amazing series to me. Amazingly well done. And a huge recommendation to everyone. If you haven’t read this series yet, you need to.I know that there’s more to come, and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

I got hooked on Shingeki no Kyojin through the anime, and when it ended, with no indication whatsoever of a second season forthcoming, I decided to start following the manga. For the most part, the anime followed the manga very closely, but volume 8 is the key volume, where the differences are most pronounced, and where the anime-adapted content ends. For the most part, I would only say that the anime expands on what's in the manga. It of course centers on the big fight between Eren and the female titan, and the mystery of the female titan is revealed. Mikasa and Hange both have great moments at the end of the volume, and there were a couple of surprising developments I was not expecting, even after having watched the anime. The author is really good at building suspense and mystery and revealing bits and pieces at just the right times, making for what could be one of the greatest long running continuous narratives in manga today. What I also love about the series is the relationship between Eren and Mikasa, which is really more of a brother-sister type relationship, although there are just the subtlest hints (a single line of dialogue, or just a faint blush on the cheeks) that it could be something more. This volume is packed with action and drama.

Titan fights of epic proportions await. This is about the equivalent of the final episode for the first season of the anime. So if you watched that, you know the basics of going to happen. Anything after this is a surprise for all of us, just until season two is released anyways.

works great

So yeah its good eren trying to get his resolve like mind back into place to transform into a titan and capture annie but failed and annie become or she inside a crystal where she is sleeping waiting to for a chance to awaken. Its a good volume book. But just seen the anime and its still great.

As expected

I bought this book for my daughter. She loves attack on titan and said this book was really good. She would like me to continue buying them in the future.

I really love this manga and the anime. The manga continues beyond the anime which I think only covers 2 seasons. I couldn't wait for the next season's anime so I am buying the manga to continue the story. I will still watch the anime because it'll be in color and well it's animated. The soundtrack is really good too!

If you love the AMC TV show TURN: Washington's Spies, you'll love this non-fiction account of the same topic. I know the show was actually created from Alexander Rose's history book "Washington's Spies: The Story of America's First Spy Ring" but they were both on sale on Kindle and I couldn't decide so I just got both and wound up reading this one first. And honestly, I'm not sure how or why the show claims to be based on a non-fiction book when a non-fiction book is factual... so really, it's just based on history, and this is also a non-fictional book about that history.I honestly had no idea just how important espionage was during the Revolutionary War. When I thought of this topic, I thought of what I learned in school: founding fathers, minutemen, Paul Revere, etc. But now I know it's so much more than that, and there was so much more going on in the background. They don't teach this in schools, but they should, maybe kids would pay attention.Never boring or dry, this book really pulls you into the spy ring and let's you get to know each individual involved. At the end, it also explores who female agent 355 might have been. Sometimes, it's so juicy, I can't believe it really happened. It was interesting to compare and contrast it with the show too, which did add some fictional elements and make some changes, but not so much that it draws away from the real history, which makes me love the show even more. This is precisely the kind of history book I would recommend to people who (wrongly) think history is boring, but it's also thrilling for those who already appreciate history. I don't think I've ever blown through non-fiction this fast.

Amazing! This book reads like a thriller, and is even more thrilling because it's not fiction! Not only is it a fantastic way to absorb American history- it's one for all ages! I'm a home schooling mother of three (a twelve year old and two teens) who has just added it to required reading for the year! This is a must read- even for people who love history but hate to read!

First I would like to say that I started reading this book Saturday morning and finished it Sunday night. It was really fun to read. The reason I give it only a three star review is that is not exactly a scholarly work (no footnotes, for example) so I was left with a sense of wondering about the veracity of everything in the book. I imagine there are other books about the Washington spies and this book has made me curious enough to read another account. I have to chuckle at all the 1 star reviews. Virtually all of them protest to the book because of the author, Brian Kilmeade. I did not know the author was a commentator for Fox News until I read those reviews. Impugning a history book simply because of the political views of the author is inane. George Washington's Secret Six is not a book espousing a political agenda of some sort, as these reviewers would have one believe. Another reason for the 3 star is that it was a rather bit over-priced given content. In any event, if you know little about the spy ring, this is as good a place to start as any.

There's been over 3300 reviews written on this title by fellow Amazon members. So there's not much new that I can add to this book except my full recommendation that you read it.Washington has been pushed out of New York City with grand defeats and loss of great property that he could ill afford. He creates his winter quarters at Morristown, NJ. Supplies to sustain his Army as well as critical information as to what the British are up to in New York City are two critical bits of information he must be aware of just to survive to fight another day.Where does the enemy plan to strike come Spring 1777? What is their strength. Any new deployments and if so, where? Who is still in command and what is the enemy's troop strength? When do they plan to march on Philadelphia. What about their Southern campaign. How secure is his own Army and Congress in terms of gathering and protecting sensitive information?Lot's of questions that George needed answered and couldn't read about in the local newspapers. Washington had proof that his ranks had been infiltrated by spies, so turnabout was fair play. The Culpepper Spy Ring was created in New York City in and around1776. The ring was composed of very common people, 5 men and one woman. They had jobs that would fit into the city and no direct any undue attention to their positions. Their jobs allowed them to listen to and even infiltrate the homes of the British in subservient rolls. While Washington and his army were floundering in New Jersey, the one war he stood a chance of winning was that of words and ideas. This ring of spies was his formal entrance into the world of espionage. It is interesting to read of the many challenges facing both nations and the interpersonal relationships that his spies were able to develop. The old adage that lose lips sink ships worked on both sides of this contest .But the information that this new unit was able to accumulate became an important part of the Colonial overall strategy. This is a well written and very interesting book.

Let me start by saying I really wanted to like this book, because the story of Washington's spy network is so compelling. But I read history, rather than historical novels, and this book reads like a novel. For example: "The taper on the wax candle atop Knowlton's desk a little as tiny flecks of ash fell onto the wood; otherwise, the room was silent." (page 22) Or: "Washington had smiled a little, in spite of himself, as he closed the letter with greetings sent to his sister-in-law and her children." How could Kilmeade know such details? He couldn't, so he made them up. Worse, he repeats the grade-school story of drunk Hessians at Trenton, which has been thoroughly debunked by true historians. I didn't read past chapter three, choosing instead to read an actual history of the subject.

Jake, John, and Braden have synthesized the most important design-thinking concepts of today into a book that is worth its weight in gold. Seriously — I’ve translated the ideas and checklists in this book to tens of thousands of dollars already as a design consultant. It’s weird... even after 4 years of studying Art & Design in college and 4 years of working at a big tech company, this book was STILL a revelation to me. It helped me understand and practice design in a whole new way. I was lucky to be mentored by top-tier designers. Now you can be mentored by some of the best designers in the Silicon Valley. Listen in on how they work and think...90% of what you need to know about designing great products is in these 257 glorious pages. The other 10% is just blood, sweat and tears.

I'm a product manager and the Sprint Book has been a great new strategy for our product team to validate quickly! It's a flexible method to build on your team's energy and domain knowledge in 5 days. Our team is entirely remote so when we get together it's helpful to have proven strategy guide our product initiatives. I also highly recommend picking up Design Sprint Kits to accompany the Sorint Book because it has all the supplies included: Design Sprint Office Kit for Creativity and Productivity. Either way, read this book.

Most of us who really care about strategic product innovation have implemented bits and pieces of the Sprint system. But thanks to the writer's extensive experimentation, there is no more comprehensive guide to doing it successfully. This book is thorough without being tiresome. It provides excellent case studies to illustrate the concepts (and provides interesting insights to major tech wins). The exhaustive checklists and supplies recommendations are invaluable. And, most importantly, the lessons learned from sprint team structure and decision making models will make us all better and faster at identifying, developing, and prototyping product and service opportunities.I would give this book six stars if I could. Five seems inadequate.

I'm impressed with the strategic and tactical rigor this book articulates. Great examples across several companies. It includes an accessible step-by-step articulation of process and tool suggestions to maximize a team's time. It also identifies realistic challenges to expect. As a fan of Lean Startup who has struggled at times with implementation, I'm especially struck by how this constrained process appears to validate a problem, market, hypothesis, prototype and get to real world testing, all while mitigating product launch risk. I'm very excited to take on this new process in earnest in the days to come.

The book is well written with good examples of how different Sprints progressed and worked as well as some that didn't and why.If you want to try running a Design Sprint I strongly recommend you do 2 things:1. Read the The Design Sprint -- GV - Google Ventures [...] site thoroughly as well asMichael Margolis -- Medium [...] articles as there are a lot of IU important and helpful hints in there, E.g. Use Gotomeeting to stream and record the interviews on Friday and get the camera Michael recommends.2. Make sure at least 2 of you read the entire book, ideally everyone should read it. The Sprint is a great process (I've used many and this is definitely one of the best) but there are many important steps day by day and it's hard for one person to stay on top of all of them.Good luck, if you stick to the process I think you will have success.

This book is the single most tactical problem-solving book.If you've been wondering what you need to do to get something done and build a solution to a real problem, this book and the sprint method just cuts right to the chase and gives you a set of tools you can actually use.Sprint is an excellent read with a real tangible approach to solving problems. There's so much that has gone into the design sprint method behind this book and so much to learn from the design sprint experience itself - e.g. human behavior, team work, focus, efficiency, success/failure, etc. I've been using their design sprint method for years now and I am really excited to see it codified in this book. The best part is that you can use the sprint method for almost any kind of project that's aiming to solve a problem. If the key to getting something done is to just "do it", this book and the sprint demonstrates the how to "do" part.

It's an interesting approach, but smacks of "this solves everything" - like many business books written by consultants. The author focuses on perhaps half a dozen success stories - really doesn't give you much of an idea how successful this approach is likely to be on any given project/issue to which it is applied. The emphasis on progress over perfection is good, and having a specific outcome and deadline to which the group is accountable is also good practice. It's perhaps a good arrow to have in your quiver.

If you work in a team-based project environment, I cannot recommend Sprint highly enough. The five-day process a great solution for quickly moving a project from concept through prototype. Even more importantly, the decision making exercises outlined in the Sprint process are readily applicable in all sorts of business decisions. "Note-and-Vote" has become a standby on my team to solicit ideas and quickly establish a direction without subjecting everyone to hours of waffling debate.Read this book!
